Paul Maclennan
Paul is a solicitor who joined Anderson & Company in 2005.
Paul advises on a wide variety of commercial agreements focussing on transactional work within the IT, life sciences and university sectors. His clients include a leading UK university and an international IT/telecoms company.
Significant matters on which Paul has recently advised include:
- Advising a UK university on the terms of a multi-million pound research funding agreement from a US charitable foundation;
- Negotiating multiple collaboration agreements for an international, multi-centre clinical study into Huntington's disease;
- Negotiating a number of major software licence agreements with overseas companies;
- Advising an IT client on the enforceability of contractual restrictions contained in a prospective employee's employment contract;
- Advising an IT client as to the effects of incorporating certain open source code in their software products.
Paul has attended negotiations on behalf of his clients in both the UK and in Europe and was the author of the intellectual property chapter of Anderson & Company's recent publication, Drafting Agreements in the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries. See our books
Paul holds a degree in Computer Science with Law, a diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice and prior to qualification as a solicitor, gained experience of working in the software industry both as a programmer, and in customer liaison roles.
